Pat Hynes Memorial Scholarship for Women Entering the Construction Industry

Do you know a female (high school senior/undergraduate/graduate) entering or currently enrolled in classes in a construction-related field or the trades?

WINNERS ARE ANNOUNCED

In 2023, the Pat Hynes Memorial Scholarship brought to you by NAWIC Greater Rochester Chapter #314 awarded four (4) $4,500 and one (1) $2,500 scholarship to high school seniors entering full-time schooling in a construction-related field, an undergraduate/graduate student continuing their education in a construction-related field, and to a female entering a training or similar program in the trades. We recognize their scholastic achievement, leadership, and goals as they look to continue their journey in construction.

I am a construction management student at Alfred State College.  When I graduate, I plan to work for a general contractor operating on commercial, mixed use and academic facilities. I enjoy giving back to my community, which is where my interests in construction and design stems from. My hobbies include reading, fishing and trying new things.

I am a first-year apprentice with J.W. Danforth. In 2020 I graduated from Pavilion Central High School and GVEP BOCES. I plan on continuing working for Danforth and going all the way to get a Journeyman position.

I look forward to a future of learning and exploration beyond the field of architecture into related fields, building connections between disciplines for a more well-rounded understanding of the communities I serve. I will continue to travel and live outside my comfort zone to deepen my knowledge of global practices and cultures on an intimate local scale.

I am a Senior at Spencerport High School and member of the National Honor Society and Hispanic Honor Society. I am also involved with student government and recently have earned the seal of biliteracy. I plan to attend RIT in the fall with a major of Supply Chain Management.

Alayna Trautman

Alayna Trautman just completed her second year at Alfred State College in the Construction Management program. Alayna serves as the MCAA Alfred State Chapter’s Vice President and is an active member of the AGC Alfred State Chapter. Alayna has just begun her third year with DV Brown & Associates in Tonawanda, NY as a Project Manager Intern. She began her passion for the trades as an Electrical Systems student at OCTEC BOCES where she served as the elected New York State SkillsUSA President. As a women who is pursuing a career in Construction Project Management, Alayna strives to show younger generations of women that they are strong, valuable, and capable.
